Recently I bought “August: Osage County” on iTunes. At the beginning of the movie a character named Beverly Weston (played by the legendary Sam Shepard) recites a quote to a woman he hired to take care of his wife. “Life is very Long” -TS Elliot. Beverly states “That’s Goddamn right.” I myself disagree. I’m at the age now where I’m really thinking about how fast the first 43 years of my life have gone. One minute I’m 12 years old, excited about the release of “Return of the Jedi” (I’m a huge Star Wars fan) the next I’m worrying about the family and the mortgage. After marrying my husband I had an instant family with 4 stepchildren. Today those 4 stepchildren have 9 children between them. (Not to mention the fact that we decided to have our own daughter.) When did this happen? Time seems like a blur to me. What is 1 hour seems like 10 minutes. 1 month seems like 1 hou and 1 year seems like 1 day. TS Elliot is wrong. Life is too short. So many things I want to see and do and it seems like the grains in the hour glass are moving faster. I’m not sad about this, I just want the trip to slow down slightly.
